Policy - Abolition of Scouts & Guides (Paramilitary Groups)

Me First! is a libertarian party. As such we want government to be minimised. However we do accept the need for some form of government (e.g. we differ from bloody anarchists) and since we have to have some kind of government it may as well conform to the classical definitions of 'The State' as established by writers such as Thomas Hobbes. One of the key characteristics of the state is that it has a "monopoly of violence". For that to happen the government cannot tolerate the existence of any non-government paramilitary organisations within its national territory. It is imperative therefore that we abolish paramilitary groups like the Scouts and Guides!

Look at the scouts and guides for a moment: The uniforms, the titles, the marching, the discipline, the survival skills - all these things suggest that they are much more than just a nice safe thing to send the kids off to so that Mum and Dad will have a bit of time to themselves. In truth they are forging an intergenerational army of loyal and subservient warriors for some yet-to-be exposed military coup on behalf of reactionary forces in society. This cannot be tolerated. Me First! therefore propose the abolition of the Scouts and Guides and the compulsory acquisition of all assets and property of those organisations.

The huge swathes of land owned by the Scouts and Guides will be (a) utilised for government purposes such as Lovelink offices and (b) land sales for private purposes to contribute to government general revenue. Finally a register of all former scouts and guides will be maintained and they will be monitored to ensure they never engage in any future subversive paramilitary activity.

Note: Yes of course the public have the right to overthrow oppressive regimes... but to do that they will have to face the full legal and military power of the state to prevent and punish such subversion. Any revolution worth its salt has to arise in response to a proper abuse of power which Me First! is happy to provide.
